2012 QUICK-DRAW RULES AND REGISTRATION FORM

Quick Draw Rules

Eligibility – the PAVT Quick Draw 2012 competition is open to any artist, age 18 or older, with the exception of the event’s current year Selection, Quick Draw, and Awards Jurors.

Boundaries - Artists will set up to paint within the grounds of the North Bennington Village center, and may paint any subject within their vision – on the grounds or beyond.

Registration - Artists may pre-register for Quick Draw 2012 by completing and sending the attached registration form, along with $10 registration fee, to the address indicated. Registration on the day of the event will take place at the registration table in the Village center. All artists will be given an Assigned Number to be displayed while painting and shown with their finished work during the exhibit. Pre-registered artists must pick up their Assigned Number at the registration table.

Painting -Painting will begin promptly at 1:30 pm and end at 3:30 pm, both times noted with the sounding of a bell. The entire painting must be begun and completed within that time; no pre-painted or pre-drawn work will be allowed.

Display & Exhibition -At 3:30 pm, all artists will prepare for the exhibit and judging. Each artist will have an Information Formto display with the painting. This form will include the title and price of the work. Artists will display their finished work at the spot indicated by their Assigned Number. We encourage the display of finished paintings on the same easel used during painting. Framing & Matting is strongly recommended.

Judging & Awards - Judging begins shortly after 3:30 pm. John MacDonald, our Quick Draw Juror, will determine winners of 1^st, 2^nd, & 3^rd Place Awards. The People’s Choice Award will be determined by public vote. Awards will be announced at 5:00 pm. Quick Draw prize-winning paintings will be featured in the Grand Exhibition on Sunday, Sept. 9.

Sale - All displayed paintings are eligible for awards & sale. The sales will be handled by PAVT volunteers.   A 20% commission will be collected on all sold work. Artists will be paid within 3 weeks. Work sold during the exhibit must remain on the easel until 5:00 pm. Only Quick Draw work may be displayed or sold. Artists selling work prior to the Quick Draw exhibit may be banned from future events.

Schedule: 12:00 noon - Registration & Set Up; 1:30 - Painting Begins;  3:30 - Painting Ends & Exhibit set-up begins;  3:30-5:00 - Public Exhibit & Judging;    5:00 - Awards announcement.
